Ultra-fast broadband internet access is at the fingertips of more residents than ever in Alabama, as C Spire’s recently completed acquisition of Troy Cablevision accelerates expansion across southwestern Alabama’s Wiregrass region.

Bringing Troy Cablevision under the C Spire banner is part of a three-year, $500 million investment the company is making in fiber infrastructure and network development across Alabama, providing ultra-fast broadband internet access to residents and related services to the region’s businesses.

C Spire is also completing a 243-mile, long-haul fiber initiative from Meridian, Miss. to Homewood, Ala., bringing service to the rural, underserved Black Belt region. Residents and businesses in the Birmingham and Mobile metro areas already have access to broadband internet through C Spire.

Through Troy Cable, C Spire has secured eight state grants and a federal grant worth $40.7 million to continue deploying fiber across the state.

Troy Cable was founded in 1985 and provided cable TV, internet, fiber broadband and other services to business and residential customers in Pike, Coffee, Crenshaw and Dale counties in Alabama.
