This week’s Employee Spotlight is on Jeff Baker, our Sr. Escalation Engineer. We especially want to congratulate Jeff for earning his Cisco Data Center Networking Infrastructure Design Specialist certification!! Jeff primarily supports our clients remotely with Cisco routing, switching, security, voice, wireless - basically, anything they need help with, Jeff can handle it. He also helps our other network engineers whenever they run into a particularly sticky issue, have time constraints, or just need another pair of eyes and 2 cents’ worth of advice in order to find the best solution. In addition, he supports our internal phone systems and the call center applications, as well as sets up legacy voice connections for our clients utilizing colocation services to provide analog lines or PRI connections to their racks. In short, Jeff is one of our best go-to guys when it comes to all things Cisco, networking, and telecom!
Jeff attended University of Alabama and Wallace State. While he studied and worked in the electronics field, he was also training himself in IT on his own until making the transition into IT as a career. In his free time, Jeff enjoys shooting pool, shooting at the range (particularly long distance precision shooting), and spending time at the lake - hanging out on his boat, kayaking, fishing, skiing, wake boarding, and swimming. A self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, he also has a long history of rappelling, rock climbing, skydiving, and riding/racing dirt bikes. Jeff also has a white German Shepherd named Shadow.
Favorite Book: My favorite author has always been Edgar Allan Poe - I love the short stories and poems.
Favorite Movie: Too many movies to mention them all, but Pulp Fiction has to be up there; great sound track too.
Person in History You’d Like to Meet: Probably either Leonardo da Vinci or Nikola Tesla
Last Meal Request: I love breakfast any time, so: bacon and eggs with hash browns, biscuits and gravy, followed by a traditional southern Thanksgiving feast. (It’s my last meal, right?!!)
