Flu shots are recommended for most adults and children, but what about a pneumonia shot?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends adult patients and parents of small children discuss the pneumococcal vaccine (PCV) with their providers. Different types of the vaccine are recommended for groups that include children younger than 2; people ages 2 and up with certain health conditions; older adults; and adults who smoke cigarettes.

“The key to a successful dietary or fitness change is creating a goal that is specific, measurable, achievable/realistic, and time-oriented,” said Dr. Josie Bidwell, associate professor in the University of Mississippi Medical Center Department of Preventive Medicine. “Once you have a good goal, then an action plan and back-up plan give the road map to achieving it.”
