Major upgrades to C Spire’s wireless network have doubled cellular speeds in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the home of the Congress of Country Music, the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians, and 7,000 permanent residents.
New technology is behind the enhancements, including both 5G and LTE additions to towers in the northern, eastern, western and central areas of the city. These sites are bringing customers increased coverage and capacity for data and calls, as well as enhanced performance inside buildings.
Nearby, new enhancements at Nanih Waiya High School are providing more coverage and capacity for students, administrators and visitors.
In 2022, C Spire installed additional, permanent coverage and capacity near the Neshoba County Fair site on the city’s south side, where more than 25,000 people gather every year for “Mississippi’s Giant House Party.”
Across the C Spire wireless footprint, engineers constantly monitor customer usage and patterns and proactively add speed, capacity and coverage enhancements through micro and macro cell sites to stay ahead of customer needs.
The C Spire network team racked up more than 500 enhancements to the cellular network in 2022 and 2023, a nearly $150 million investment. These 5G and LTE deployments are part of a $1 billion investment in expanding our network and the fiber infrastructure that powers our wireless towers.
