When most people think of “healthy living,” it’s usually in reference to the foods we consume and our pursuit of physical and mental fitness. But for Kelly Love and her partners in Branch Basics, the quest only begins there.
“Everything we put in, on and around us every day, it impacts us — our mood, our behavior, our energy levels, growth and development,” says Love, a co-founder of the health and lifestyle brand alongside friends Marilee Nelson and Allison Evans.
Many of the off-the-shelf sprays and concentrates we use to clean the surfaces and floors in our homes, she says, as well as the detergents we use to wash clothes, dishes and our skin, often contain harmful chemicals that impact our wellbeing. That’s why Branch Basics is focused on what she calls “the power of pure” with a line of all-natural cleaning products and accessories.
“Branch Basics started off as a blog because we want to educate,” she says. “We realized everyone is overwhelmed, so cleaning products seemed like an easy place for people to start with healthier lifestyle changes, because it allowed people to easily replace a lot of toxic products in one fell swoop.”
The company, which was recently featured on NBC’s “The Today Show,” now has over 30 employees working remotely across the U.S. Based in Jackson, Mississippi, Love uses C Spire fiber home internet and wireless to stay connected while helping run the business from her home.
“I can finish lunch with [my kids] and then head upstairs to hop on a video call, and we’ve never had any issues,” she says. “C Spire’s always been so reliable, which is such a gift.”
Thanks to technology the team can stay connected, manage podcasts, host educational webinars, and maintain a strong presence on social media — all while growing a business rooted in wellness.
“We never set out to sell soap,” she says. “We set out to help people live healthier lives.”
