The C Spire network team was especially busy in 2023, racking up hundreds of enhancements to the cellular network—a $30 million investment—and stepped up to help in times of need and times of celebration.
During 2022, we deployed network upgrades to 238 cell site locations, providing 5G and enhanced LTE capacity and coverage throughout C Spire Country. Nearly every day another pocket of our area saw increased speeds for browsing and streaming media, and the comfort of continually upgraded coverage.
In December, C Spire technicians completed an extensive enhancement to the Interstate 55 corridor through central and northern Mississippi. The 12 new sites have strengthened the network along a 125-mile section between Canton and Batesville.
C Spire also answered the call to provide additional temporary support for its customers and neighbors throughout the year, including added coverage at the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Facility in Jackson during the city's water crisis, as well as areas of Rolling Fork and Amory that were affected by powerful tornadoes on March 24.
For special events that brought a surge of attendees—like Mardi Gras parades, the Thunder on the Sound air show at Keesler AFB, Biloxi Spring Break, collegiate sports, festivals and concerts—C Spire sent its COW (Cell On Wheels) and COLT (Cell On Light Truck) to keep network traffic moving swiftly.
